Interstellar: Pros and Cons

Interstellar, the film by Emma Thomas, Lynda Obst and my favorite Christopher Nolan was absolutely great.
Overall I enjoyed it a lot. It is between traditional sci-fi adventure and a deep deep story. Yes it was overlong and muddled however, it looked great from first frame to last and, though not perfect it gave you a lot to think about. I actually thought it was one of Nolan's better ones!

Here are my pros and cons for Interstellar:

PROS
  • I enjoyed the soundtrack a lot, Hans Zimmer is amazing and probably the best in his game.
  • The graphics are breath-taking, space hasn't looked this good since the film Gravity
  • The backstory of the world dying because of food shortage is a nice idea, but I feel like it went away from the classic war destruction of Earth
  • I love that time is used as the ultimate motivator for the characters in the film. Time is the way our life is built and one of the very few things we cannot control
CONS
  • The trailer for the movie ruins the coolest planet they visit in the film (the water planet), I feel as if this should have been left out of the trailer
  • The motives of the professor make absolutely no sense to me whatsoever and they are never fully explained.
  • Why was his son such a dick when he got older? His motives as well made no sense to me
If you haven't watched the film yet I highly recommend it for all you space enthusiast!
